Letter to Anne Frank.

Dear Anne Frank,

After learning about you, I realised that I have learnt a lot about life in the past, especially during war. I have learnt that we should be optimistic in life so that we can be happy. You taught me to live each day as it comes, as you don’t worry a lot, like how many of the others did who were living in the Secret Annexe.

I feel that you and your family did the right thing by going into hiding at the Secret Annexe. You and your family are brave and are not like the others who just give up and surrender and die without reason.

I feel that it is not easy to live and a cramped up place for 2 years straight, to live an anonymous life. Just living with another family is already hard enough. As I learn about the Van Daan’s family I realised that I am fortunate to have kind and polite family members and that I can live peacefully without having to dislike someone who is living right under the same roof as me.

As for you, I think that you are a very brave person and you would surely have had given many people hope in the lives. To be calm and optimistic in life when you know that you are hiding from captivity is really admirable. You have made many people cherish what they have now instead of complaining and grumbling and not to take things for granted.

After reading the last paragraph of passage 4, I look up to you and respect you. This is because you do not think too much about being arrested and you are very brave, always looking on the bright side of everything. To accept the fact that you might die. To live each day as it comes. These both are difficult things to do.

The world is lucky to have had a person like you, we will remember you always.

With much love,
Edna (:

  1. Great work Edna! :) You may want to refer more closely to specific events in the text during the examination. Otherwise, this is a good personal response to Anne Frank's diary. Anne's writing does teach us to cherish our lives. - Miss Ruby
